The Today Show

A little while back I photographed Janice Lieberman, Consumer Correspondent for The Today Show, who wrote the book How to Shop for a Husband, which I blogged about (click here to get to that post).

Well, Grace Hanlon came up with the idea to expand on the project and shoot some behind the scenes stuff at The Today Show , so we did! It was such a blast (except the being on the road at 5:30am part)! I was able to meet and photograph co-anchors Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira, weather and feature reporter Al Roker, and national correspondent Natalie Morales. Not only that, but Yoko Ono was appearing that day and I even caught a few shots of her. She was quite cute with her hat and glasses!

It was really such a fun time because I had the opportunity to shoot while the cameras were rolling live. It's such an adrenaline rush! What is even more amazing is that while one segment is shooting live, two feet behind me the scene is being changed for the next segment. When one is complete, then they all have to run to the next location, which happened to be outside in the rain after Janice's spot! It really gave me such respect for how complicated it is and how much talent is required to put on a live TV show. Kudos to The Today Show team!!

Save-the-Dates

As one of my first real "activities" of being a bride, Rob and I schemed about what to do with the save-the-dates. As I've come to understand thoroughly, every bride-to-be wants to be unique and impart a bit of themselves (and their fiancées) into every detail.

The Save-the-Dates are really the first public communication from a to-be bride and groom to their friends and family. So in my opinion, the save the dates should reek of your personality and share to your friends and family some important things or just fun facts about the two of you as a couple. Even if it's conveyed with a "typical" medium, like a magnet, something that tells a bit about the couple will really make your save the date unique. With Rob and I, that was pretty easy because we have such a huge thing in common, the wedding industry and how we met. So with that in mind, we decided to do a photo shoot of us doing a photo shoot!! :-)

So after bribing Gen and Justin LeBlanc (and really, it doesn't take too much bribing to get a former bride to get back in her wedding dress) to dress up for us, Rob and I hit the streets of Red Bank with friend/photographer Craig Pittelli. We had such a blast, check out some pictures below!!

So now the fun part. :-) Besides these pictures there are many more to pick from so Rob and I picked our favorites and we made a collage of them for our magnets. :-)

Danielle and Nathan April 25, 2009

Yesterday's wedding was amazing. Really...just amazing in every way from the chemistry between Danielle and Nate to the energy at the reception; I had such a fun time photographing it! I had Darren LeBlanc shooting with me (our first wedding gig together), who I've found is even more nimble than I am at times! Haha, he even was named Spiderman by the Best Man! :-)

Check out the images below. Such gorgeous weather for this time of the year too, it was like we were shooting in June! Some fun infrared stuff and even a textured one I threw in the mix for the first time ever. :-)

Pictures can be ordered at http://www.vanessajoy.smugmug.com/.

Wish you guys all the best!!

aahhhhhhh Summer!!

I just have to say how much I love Summer. There really is nothing better than driving with the wind blowing through my hair and my hand hanging out the window! I stumbled across this picture from last year (note, I'm not wearing a ring), and it just reminded me how much I enjoy the nice weather. It was quite soothing for me to see this picture. :-)

Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks!!!

Rob Adams and I had a really fun time getting to take pictures/video on the field at the Lakewood BlueClaws Stadium. You can check out his blog about it here which is fun since we were both working with my pictures, but he edited them differently! Haha, I always like to see how other people envision the final product of my work. :-) And as the icing on the cake, while doing this shoot for Rick from The Backstop, I got to meet former Marjor League Pitcher Mark Leiter (yes, Al Leiter's brother) and BlueClaws Pitching Coach Bob Milacki!

At anyrate, it was a great time, I have always loved baseball and I LOVE taking pictures of any sport in general. I think sports and wedding are very similar actually, high energy, high emotion, fast-paced and if you miss the shot it's gone forever.

Well I did get a few shots that I loved, particularly of the details (as usual), and you can even spot me in there twice! One is pretty easy because its of Rob and me, but the other one is a little bit sneakier!! See if you can find me!

Anthem of Hope Website

You may remember my friend Darren LeBlanc (whose little girl, Olivia, has agreed to be my flower girl btw!!!) and his wife, Misty, who died of brain cancer late last year. If not, click here.

Well the website has been launched along with some fabulous resources, ways to support the cause and of course, some great video and photography. :-) If you have the time, stop by and take a look!

Canon vs Nikon = I WIN!!!

Love is all fun and games until you find out that your fiancee uses Nikon. Ew. Haha... :-)

But, not to worry as love does prevail and I knew he was a Nikon user and I still said YES!

Oh I know what you're thinking, I just let it go that easy...nope!!! After some persuading on my part and some enlightenment on his, Rob has decided to sell his Nikon equipment and get the Canon 5d Mark II!!! YAY!!!!! So if any of you are interesting in starting a Nikon collection, let me know and I'd be happy to hook you up with Rob's equipment list.

I win!!!!
