So I AT LEAST have a "coming soon" page at my website, vanessajoy.com. I’m still working on everything else though. I'm a perfectionist, so needless to say when it comes to my website and trying to convey the passion I have for photography in just a few pages, I'm going to put everything I have into it!
I’m still thinking about a logo. I have a wonderful friend of mine designing it, but I feel like I need to give her some sort of vision as to what I want it to be...but I really don't have one! I'm thinking something fun and carefree, yet pretty and elegant at the same time. I have the feel that I'm going for, but not the visual
...yet anyway. Any ideas anyone?

Other than weddings...
Every photographer jumps at the chance to get behind the camera even if it's not their "master" category (like weddings for me). Well I've had the opprotunity to shoot a band, 14 points, and had so much fun doing it! It's so cool to do different things every once in a while and take creativity to a new genre of photography. And really, how much better does it get than shooting with man's best friend?! Take a look! =)
Wedding Photographers from around the country!
One of the greatest things about being in the wedding photography industry is that there are so many fantastic photographers that want nothing more than to just get together, hang out and learn from each other. We do everything from seminars to lunches and dinner, from shooting weddings together to critiquing each other's photos and new programs. So here's a blog post dedicated to all of the truly amazing photographers that I've had the pleasure of calling friends!
Car MacNeil, Marissa Levin and I were doing a wedding in Allaire State Park last year, where we were named Charlie's Angels. Haha, we got a kick out of it so we struck a pose!

So I attended a photo seminar "Master Your Craft" featuring Mike Colon and Bob Davis in February of 2008 and I went with Ahmetze (http://ahmetze.wordpress.com/), an awesome photographer friend that I shoot with sometimes.
Here we are with Mike Colon!
Well not only did I get a TON of new ideas, get inspired and get to meet AWESOME photographers from all over the country, I also won the drawing for a FREE ipod (30gigs and that's no joke!) Which is awesome, since I didn't have one and I was so close to buying my own about a week earlier. Good thing I didn't! Anyway, here's a photo of me with Mike and Bob winning the ipod!

So the moral of the story is, never stop learning and not only will you gain knowledge and wisdom, but you might win stuff too!

So I got the fabulous opportunity to see David Jay and a few other awesome photographers around the area, John Schafer, Syed Yaqeen and Matt Dejesus, this Saturday in NYC to take a sneak preview of DJ's latest must-have-for-all-human beings, ShowItSites. It's such a great program that helps build flash websites with a simple drag and drop mentality. It's going to revolutionize websites as we know them. As a matter of fact, I'm working on getting mine going as we speak!
Anyways, check out the pictures that I snagged from DJ's and Matt's blogs. Haha, I have professional camera equipment...but does Vanessa go out and buy a point and shoot to have fun with...I may need to fight the lazy streak there... :-)
I just even a hold of some of the "test shoots" that DJ took while setting up the group shot with me as the test dummy. Haha, not so bad for tests with the exception that I didn't realize I was being photographed until the very last shot! Haha, here's to a photographer caught off gaurd on the other side of the camera!
What else would you do in a hotel elevator??
Caught!!!!
Now if only there was a picture of me running 20 blocks to catch my train because I couldn't catch a cab!! :-0

This was the first wedding of May '08 that I shot with my mentor John Heyn of Heyn Photography! The weather even held out for us while John and I shot in the park with our favorite videographer Rob Adams shown below doing some seriously fantastic work behind the camera.
The reception was such a fun time I even caught John whistling along!

Thank You's and more!
It's so awesome to be a part of one of the most important days in someone's life...but it's even more awesome to hear things like this afterwards! Here's a small collection of brides that have gone out of their way to make me feel like a friend and not a "vendor"!
Here are a few pics from a wedding that I did where I became the hairdresser! I'm sure every girl knows what it's like the have their hair done and just not like it at all! Well, Gen had that happen on her wedding day...so I decided to fix it and her mom took pictures. It's fun being on the other side of things every once in a while! :-)
Also featured in these pictures is Yvonne Moss from Beautiful Faces. I L-O-V-E her makeup jobs, she does mine all the time! But this time we got to work right next to each other, literally!
And last but not least, a wonderful letter from a bride that my awesome Chicks that Click girls Marissa Levin, Cara MacNeil and I photographed last year.
More fun to come!

The Beginning
My first blog post! Very exciting! To tell you the truth I don't even know what to say! I just shot an awesome wedding this past weekend with Kenny Kim and Andres Valenzuela in Bloomfield at a gorgeous mansion. I'll definitely put some pics up later, but for right now I think I'm going to add a few posts that will show a bit of my photographic history, everything from pictures to client thank you's. The past is such an important part of where we all are today, I don't think I could go without mentioning it! So coming up are a few posts from former weddings, clients and just plain old good times!
