Sarah and Stephen's Wedding

Well you've already seen Sarah in a wedding dress and you've seen her table cards too; but now you can finally see her wedding day!!

Ahmet and I shot Sarah's wedding on Saturday, and even made it outside for some great umbrella shots! Deniesha from Couture Event by D was there also being an amazing day-of coordinator and The Tides Estate had AMAZING Viennese tables (no, I really can't resist Rice Krispie treats in a chocolate fondue, who can?!).

The Doughboys

If you don't know about my dad, he's just your typical former rock star dad, had a one-hit-wonder back in the day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMLnDuzgkjo) and is now playing with his old high school band.

Now, you might think..."Sweet, Vanessa's dad gets together with his buddies and plays some oldies every now and again." You are so wrong...once a rock star, always a rock star.

My dad's new band, The Doughboys, has twice held the title of the "Coolest Song in the World" from Little Steven Van Zandt's Underground Garage XM station and they seriously rock out when they play live at places like the Stone Pony...they even wreck the stage when they're done!!

If you haven't seen my dad yet, a) you'd better not be a close friend cuz you're slackin' on the duties! and b) get out there and see him! He plays all over the tri-state area, in Manhattan, even up in Maine...there's no excuses!!! Go here for a list of upcoming shows: http://www.thedoughyboysnj.com/. And here are a few coming up:

Saturday, September 12th at 9:00PM
Kenny's Castaways
157 Bleecker Street
New York, New York 10012

Robin Trower / Doughboys
September 20th
(doors open at 7pm)

Starland Ballroom
570 Jernee Mill Road
Sayerville NJ, 08872
(732) 238 1241

If you don't see daylight - or nightlight rather - too often, then take like 3 seconds and grab his CD - "Is It Now?", or even just a single or two for .99. Here's their first "coolest song in the world" video on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQMTPRBz5A8&feature=related.

What about their second coolest song in the world you ask? Oooo, just wait for it!!!! I just finished designing the single cover that just hit the radio stations (recently played by Jonathan Clarke's Q104 Show "Out Of The Box") and you can preview/buy the song by clicking on the picture below!

Nicole and John

This past Friday I shot Nicole and John's wedding in Forked River. For this fun, I brought along Kati and Ana, two new trainees of mine, and Rob shot some high def video too! Make sure you check out his blog for the same day edit he put together!

I got a fun shot of Rob being a good boutonniere-er.

Nicole had great eyes so I couldn't help but play with them a bit. It was a bright, sunny day so the infrared camera came out of the bag and WOW was I happy with those shots!

As always, enJOY!

A Hummingbird

Check out this little video of a hummingbird that I saw on my last day in St. Lucia. Too bad I didn't have my 5d mark II to video it! Just had my little point and shoot Sony Cybershot. :-)

Kay Unger Website Update!!

You may remember the photo/video shoot that Rob and I did a little while back of Kay Unger and Phoebe Couture's Fall 2009 line. Well, Kay has updated her website to include the new photos!! I'm really excited to have my work on such a great designer's website!! Here are some quick screen shots, BUT you MUST check out the website on your own. You might find some great dresses for yourself even, I did!! :-)

A New Studio!!

As most of you know already, I recently bought a home in Freehold, so when Rob and I got engaged, we didn't have to add house hunting to the list of "to-dos".

However, with Rob moving in after the wedding and me looking for a great space to meet with my brides, we realized that acquiring some space in Freehold, instead of Rob's current space in Red Bank, would be the way to go. So we started the hunt and finally Rob and I signed the lease this afternoon! It was kind-of funny, it sort-of had that "newly-wed" feeling, but more like business-wed instead!!

Here are some pics of the place right on East Main Street (#62); I can't wait to start decorating!!

St. Lucia Wedding Pictures

Wedding days are always nothing short of an adventure, and this wedding proved to be nothing less! Between a really late shuttle to the ceremony site (15 mins after the ceremonywas scheduled to begin), having to redo/touch up Lisa's makeup for her and fighting the bright sun, I'd say this day met up to my wedding challenge standards. :-) I'd also have to say, I'm quite deserving of the foot, back and neck massage that I scheduled for 10am!

I met some really great people at this wedding; I've already stalked most of them on facebook so hopefully I'll be seeing them around. :-)

Take a look at the slideshow!!

View original post if in facebook.

Images are available for purchase at www.vanessajoy.smugmug.com. That's also where the rest of the pictures from the weekend will be uploaded to. DVD of slideshow available too via the DVD icon in the slideshow.

Wedding Day at St. Lucia!

It's finally here, wedding day! Actually, its been quite the hub-bub as Judy, Tj's mom, has been giving everyone countdowns to the minute every so often. I'm starting at 12:30, so I have some time for a leisurely breakfast, a nice sun bathe on my roof and some time to edit some photos from last night when I was able to take a few casual pictures of Tj and Lisa on the balcony of their villa. Here's a few. :-)

This picture is really interesting though. This is the actual ship used in Pirates of the Caribbean!! Pretty sweet!

St. Lucia Day 2

One of the items of the list of things to do today, was to take details and scenery of the islands...haha, and if you know me, you know details are so my thing! Right after breakfast I walked (or should I say hiked with the steepness of the hills around here) around and caught some great details of the resort. Take a look at the fun little montage of what I captured.

I really am having a fantastic time here, and it is because it's beautiful place and I've tried at least 3 of their amazing frozen fruit drinks (their fruit is so fresh here!), it really does have to do with the people and the island mind set. Like this man I met this morning named Tim, who, after eating his dinner with his wife, son and granddaughter, saw I was sitting alone and came over and filled the empty seat in front of me (which I had previously been looking at imagining Rob there!). It was just nice, he sat and chatted with me for about 5 mins or so asking about what I did, etc.

The locals are great too, and although most of the time they're just trying to sell me something, they have such a light-hearted way about them that you don't even really mind them coming up to you to chat. Like this guy who I found carving wood. He almost convinced me to buy one with "Adams" on it (my to-be last name), but I thought I'd like to just save that for when Rob and I go on our honeymoon. :-)

And last but not least of course are the people that I'm actually here with. TJ and Lisa are really just such a laid-back, fun-loving couple; they're the perfect destination wedding candidates. Their families are both great too, like TJ's mom Judy here. Everyone is just loving life and having a really relaxed time (even to the point of planning boat trips before the ceremony tomorrow!). I can't wait for the rehearsal dinner tonight and, of course, the wedding tomorrow!

I've arrived in St. Lucia!

Thanks to all of you who sent me off with well wishes, I am finally here! After waking up at 2:30am this morning to have Rob drive me to my 4am check in for my 6am flight, connecting in Miami boarding at 10:05 and then sitting in an hour and a half delay and finally arriving in St. Lucia at 3:45 only to find there was an hour and half drive to go, I am quite grateful to be sitting my bed in my BREATHTAKING room right now!

It is a bit cloudy right now so I couldn't really go exploring...but my room is definitely picture-worthy so we'll start there! :-) Not to mention all of the island noise I hear (mostly frogs and crickets) is really just therapeutic I almost want to fall asleep right now!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, some down time on the beach and definitely exploring a bit with my camera. Until then, enJOY the view!!

What can YOU do with your Engagement Pictures??

I'm always looking for fun new ideas, and one of my brides, Sarah did a great job conjuring up this one! Instead of table numbers, her and Stephen are putting different countries names for the tables. But better yet, there will be pictures of the "in" those countries on the tables. I actually laughed out loud when I saw these!

Bugs!!

While weeding my garden the other day, check out some GROSS bugs that I found! They were so icky I really couldn't help but to take close up pictures of them!

Ty and Viviane

Last week I shot and Esession for a super-fun couple who are getting married in October. We really had a blast taking the train from Maplewood to Hoboken; there was such variety in their images! Yvonne Moss did a beautiful job with Viviane's makeup too. I'm definitely looking forward to their wedding, and even better yet, Rob's company is doing video for them so I can't wait to see what we come up with.

EnJOY!
