Redefining the Mile-High Club

You may remember Darren LeBlanc from previous posts where his daughter Olivia was my flower girl, the Anthem of Hope shoot I did a while back or just some great pictures we shot when I first bought my new place. Either that or you know his from his infamous blog, http://www.leblanclife.com/ where he blogged through the struggle of losing his wife, Misty, to brain cancer.

But if you really know Darren, you know what a great man of faith that he is and that despite devastating circumstances he was able to hold onto Truth and let God lead his life and because of that, he has been healed and able to love again.

And that's where Rob and I come in!

Darren is a schemer and if he's going to do something important, he's going to do it right and do it big. So when he knew he wanted to marry his girlfriend, Kristin, he thought up an amazing way to do it!

Kristin is a big time Bette Midler fan and has always wanted to see her in concert, but she only performs in Las Vegas and her last show is on January 30th. So, for her birthday, Darren arranged to fly out with her to Las Vegas to see the show and then catch the red eye back that night! What Kristin didn't know, was that Darren also arranged to Rob and I to be on the flight as well to photo and video him proposing to her mid flight!

I'll let Rob's video PhVusion and my images tell the rest of the story, because I think story are better told through visuals. I will let you know, though, that Darren's big proposal didn't stop once we hit the ground. Since Kristin lived in California for a few years, one of her best friends lives there. Darren surprised Kristin by having her best friend waiting there at baggage claim when we arrived! After that, Darren and Kristin went off to the salon where he had an appointment set up so they could get all dolled up to take their engagement pictures/video in Vegas!

Rob and I had an amazing time touring through the streets of Vegas, up and down the strip to Caesar's Palace, The Venetian and The Ballagio, and even to the older part of Vegas like Fremont Street. Darren and Kristin were so great to work with and we really couldn't have had a better place to shoot! There's some amazing stuff here so definitely take a look!! You can also read Darren's story about it here on his blog.

Next up...the wedding May 23rd!!!

Jennifer and Matthew's Enagagement Book

Engagement books are one of my favorite products for a bride and groom to have at their wedding. Not only do they stem from the engagement session (which I love doing as well), but they add a unique and personal touch to the wedding day.

My engagement books can come with any type of cover that you can dream up...really, anything. I have a sample in my studio that has fabric from a fabric store, and I have brides that give me some of their bridesmaid's dress fabric (a perfect way to make the book match your day!).

I recently designed Jennifer and Matthew's Engagement Book and just loved it so much I had to blog it. I've been toying with some new graphic elements in my albums overall, so I was really excited when they worked out so well in the E-Books as well.

EnJOY!

Seminars!

Rob and I have some very exciting news to announce: we will be giving seminars on Marketing and PhVusion (photo/video fusion) in the very near future!

I've been told that passing on what little information I have can be invaluable to others and I have always had a desire to do that. Being a Spanish teacher has definitely prepared me for teaching photography to others and I am so excited to be sharing this new aspect of 'business' with my hubby! :-) PhVusion is one of the biggest things going on right now in the photo/video world and luckily I've had Rob's motivation, support and creative hard work in together creating some great new products that have been pretty killer.

What's even more exciting is that our vendors have decided to sponsor our seminars with some sweet deals from their company and free give-a-ways for you guys! Here's the line-up of sponsors so far:

  • SmugMug
    • Free Camera Straps
    • 20% off Coupon for a year’s subscription
  • Canvas on Demand

    • 200 images edited for free
  • Animoto
    • Buy a 3-month Animoto Pro Pass and get one month added on for free
  • ASABooks Albums
    • You'll have to wait and see what they're giving you!!

    Grand Prizes

For those of you interested in taking our seminar (for support, knowledge or just to see what we have to say) here's the basic summary:

The new art of Photo/Video fusion is taking the industry by storm. Experience first-hand how this new technology is blurring lines between photography and videography and how it can enhance your business. Vanessa Joy and Rob Adams will demonstrate overall marketing techniques for your business as well as show you how to use and apply basic video techniques into your photography to create dynamic multimedia PhVusion products.

Tricia and Bill Jan 9, 2010

It was such a treat to photograph my first wedding after being married myself! Out of all of the amazing experiences that being a bride brings, one of my favorites is helping me relate to my brides more. I really love that I've been able to see things from their eyes. :-)

Tricia was a beautiful bride and I was lucky enough to work with Yvonne and Heather for her makeup and hair (always great to photograph someone who has perfect hair and makeup!). One of my favorite things was that Tricia completely trusted my opinion on everything! Anytime where she wasn't sure what to do, like where to put her engagement ring during the ceremony, or if she needed help taking out her veil and bustling her dress, she would ask me right away. :-) It's a great feeling when I connect with my brides like that. :-)

So here are a few of my favorite images along with her slideshow!
